Our Approach

Addiction is a chronic brain disease with measurable neurological, behavioral, and social dimensions. Our clinical model reflects that. Every patient at New Horizons receives a full intake assessment covering medical history, substance use history, co-occurring mental health conditions, and social circumstances — and their treatment plan is built around what that assessment reveals. We do not run a generic program.

What We Treat

Our licensed clinical staff treats the full range of substance use disorders presenting in Mercer County and the region: heroin and illicit fentanyl, prescription opioids, alcohol, cocaine and crack, methamphetamine and other stimulants, and benzodiazepines. We have direct clinical experience managing xylazine (tranq) and fentanyl-complicated presentations — a critical capability in the current New Jersey drug supply environment.

Dual Diagnosis Integrated Care

More than half of our patients present with at least one co-occurring mental health condition — depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD. We treat both the substance use disorder and the psychiatric condition simultaneously, because treating them in isolation consistently produces worse outcomes.

Licensed, Accredited, and Insurance-Accepted

New Horizons is licensed by the State of New Jersey as an inpatient addiction treatment facility. We work with most major commercial insurers — Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Horizon BCBS, AmeriHealth NJ, Independence Blue Cross, Highmark, and others. New Jersey's Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (A2031/S1339) requires state-regulated insurers to cover substance use disorder treatment on the same terms as any other illness. We verify your benefits before admission at no cost.

We are accessible from all 13 Mercer County municipalities, from Burlington County via I-295, from Bucks County PA via the Trenton-Morrisville Bridge on US-1, and from the Philadelphia metropolitan area via I-95.
